Challenge

While most of Nuvolo’s Space and Facility Management portfolio was intended to be used by facility managers, the Reservation app was different. Its primary users were actually workplace employees. The existing Reservation app had been designed with facility managers in mind and as such, was a major oversight in its target audience. The user experience was very confusing and hard to use. Additionally, it was only available as a web app. In order to help the Reservation app compete in a marketplace with consumer-oriented user-friendly apps, I knew it would be essential to reimagine the Reservation app from the employee experience.

Solution

I prototyped a mobile-first employee-centric app that could be a “one stop shop” for anything facility related. The “one stop shop” aspect would be essential for scalability and the future of the Space and Facility Management portfolio, which I knew would need to expand to include a new offering (Visitor Management) in the near future. I conducted usability tests to assess the design concept’s viability. The resulting cohesive, forward-looking Workplace Services prototype was well received and drove conversation with product leadership about the future of Nuvolo’s employee-facing products.
